Hungary’s First Samsung Onyx LED Cinema Opens Soon at Lurdy Cinema
A new era of cinema is about to begin at Lurdy Cinema: on 19 September, Hungary’s first Samsung Onyx LED cinema will open its doors. The fully renovated Screen 10 will offer a premium movie-going experience for more than 250 guests.
Instead of a conventional projection screen, films will be displayed on an 11.5-metre Samsung Onyx LED screen in Scope aspect ratio with 4K resolution. As the technology uses a self-emissive LED panel, it delivers deeper blacks, stronger contrast, vivid colours and exceptionally detailed images.

Samsung Onyx LED cinema: uncompromised visuals
With 4K resolution, 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage and HDR image quality, even the smallest details in dark scenes, fast-moving images and subtitles remain crisp and clear. The display can reach up to 300 nits of brightness, which, according to Samsung, is more than six times the 48-nit brightness typically associated with conventional cinema projectors.
Thanks to its consistent brightness, viewers can enjoy a sharp, detailed and distortion-free image from different areas of the auditorium. Samsung Onyx technology also supports 3D screenings, bringing immersive films to Lurdy Cinema in an even more spectacular format.
Premium comfort and sound
The refurbishment is about more than picture quality. Screen 10 will feature new VIP-category seats with motorised reclining backrests and footrests, designed for a more comfortable cinema experience.
Premium visuals will be complemented by a Dolby 7.1 sound system, ensuring that the audio experience is just as immersive as the picture.
Opening on 19 September
