Responsible energy use during the heatwave at Lurdy Ház
2026.08.01.
Prolonged heatwaves and extreme high temperatures do not only make everyday life more challenging, they also put a serious load on the national electricity system: air conditioning and cooling drive power demand close to record levels. In response to MAVIR’s call, Lurdy Ház is taking conscious, well‑thought‑out steps: we are applying settings that keep our visitors comfortable while using the available energy more intelligently.
What are we doing at Lurdy Ház?
At Lurdy Ház we are adjusting our cooling and air‑handling systems to be both comfortable and more energy‑efficient:
-
we set the indoor temperature to 26 °C, which provides a pleasant, easy‑to‑tolerate climate in the summer heat,
-
we switch off office air‑handling units at 17:00, and all air‑handling units and cooling pumps at 20:00,
-
we delay the start‑up of the chillers by one hour and increase the supply water temperature by 2 degrees.
With these fine‑tuned settings Lurdy Ház continues to provide its usual services, while in the background we handle energy use in a more responsible and conscious way.
Smart lighting and natural daylight
When it comes to lighting, we also opt for sensible, practical solutions that are even more carefully planned than before:
-
we do not switch on the external decorative lighting during the heatwave,
-
for indoor lighting we adapt to current footfall and daylight conditions, and wherever possible we make greater use of natural light.
We inform our tenants and partners separately and ask them to follow the same approach in their own premises – this way, together we can actively support conscious energy use.
What does this mean for our visitors?
For our visitors, Lurdy Ház remains exactly what it has always been: an easily accessible, comfortable, air‑conditioned and diverse destination for shopping, work and events. The only difference is that, behind the scenes, we are paying even closer attention to how we use energy – while ensuring that you continue to enjoy a comfortable, well‑organised environment during your stay.
For Lurdy Ház, sustainable and well‑considered operation is a long‑term commitment. During the heatwave we demonstrate this in practice, while continuing to welcome our visitors in our renewed, modern spaces.
