Hungary’s First Samsung Onyx LED Cinema Screen at Lurdy Cinema
A new era of cinema has arrived in Hungary. In the refurbished Screen 10, the traditional projection screen has been replaced by an 11.5-metre-wide Samsung Onyx Cinema LED display with 4K resolution, emitting light directly without the need for a projector.
Dolby 7.1 surround sound, lounge beds, ergonomic cinema seats and motorised VIP recliners come together for an exceptional movie experience.

What makes the Onyx screen revolutionary?
Samsung Onyx is the world’s first DCI-certified Cinema LED technology. Instead of projecting films from a separate projector, the LED display itself emits the light. The result is true deep blacks, up to six times greater peak brightness, genuine 4K HDR colour performance and a distortion-free view from every part of the auditorium.
A technological revolution
How does Onyx go beyond traditional projection?
During dark scenes, individual pixels can switch off completely. This means black remains truly black rather than turning grey due to reflected light in the auditorium, while even the smallest details in night scenes remain clearly visible.
While conventional projectors typically deliver around 48 nits (14 fL), Samsung Onyx can reach up to 300 nits. Thanks to HDR technology, explosions, sunlight and vivid colours are brought to life with striking clarity and natural brightness.
The display delivers consistent brightness across its entire surface. Even from seats at the side of the auditorium, there is no loss of brightness or optical keystone distortion, which can occur with projected images.
The high brightness of the Onyx display helps offset the natural light loss caused by 3D glasses, making 3D films bright, sharp and more comfortable to watch.

Acoustic innovation
Premium Dolby 7.1 surround sound
Because the LED wall is a solid surface, the sound system has been calibrated specifically for this technology by Samsung and Harman (JBL Professional) specialists. Carefully positioned front and surround speakers ensure that dialogue appears to come directly from the actors on screen, while sound effects create a dynamic spatial experience from every seat in the auditorium.

Located in the rear premium rows, these high-end leather recliners feature motorised backrests and footrests, as well as a personal wooden side table and cup holder. The VIP ticket also includes a cinema snack-bar menu.

Reclined viewing position
Ergonomic lounge beds in the very first row offer a comfortable, relaxed viewing position and a full panoramic view of the monumental LED display.
