Lurdy Ház Joins HuGBC

Lurdy-Ház Shopping and Office Centre Ltd. has become a full member of the Hungarian Green Building Council (HuGBC). HuGBC membership marks an important milestone for Lurdy Ház, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, conscious building operations and social responsibility as integral parts of running a modern shopping and office centre.

Thousands of people visit Lurdy Ház every day. Shoppers, office workers, tenants, guests, service providers and employees all use the building, which is why it is especially important for us to consider environmental aspects in our long-term operations. This includes using resources responsibly, improving waste-management solutions, exploring opportunities for greater energy efficiency, and supporting more sustainable mobility and everyday habits.

What does HuGBC membership mean?

HuGBC, the Hungary Green Building Council, is a Hungarian professional organisation dedicated to promoting a more environmentally conscious built environment. Its members include companies, organisations and professionals from the real-estate, construction, design, engineering and consulting sectors, as well as other related fields.

The association aims to encourage more sustainable construction, development and operational practices in Hungary. It does so by initiating professional programmes, knowledge-sharing initiatives, research, training and partnerships, while representing the interests of a sustainable built environment in professional dialogue. HuGBC was established in 2009 and is connected to the international World Green Building Council network.

Membership means joining a professional community. It is not a building certification or rating; rather, it reflects Lurdy Ház’s openness to professional experience, best practices and new opportunities for progress in sustainability.

Sustainability in everyday operations

More sustainable operation of a shopping and office centre does not depend on one major initiative alone. It requires ongoing attention that is reflected in everyday decisions, operational processes and future development priorities.

For Lurdy Ház, it is important that the building remains convenient and safe to use while its environmental impact is managed responsibly. We will continue to explore opportunities that support more conscious energy and resource use, reduce the amount of waste generated and strengthen environmentally responsible practices.

Sustainability is a shared responsibility. The shops, offices and service providers operating at Lurdy Ház, as well as our visitors, are all part of a community whose everyday decisions shape our environment. Using a reusable shopping bag, sorting waste for recycling, making more conscious purchasing choices or choosing a more sustainable way to travel can all contribute to positive change.

Professional connections and development

HuGBC membership gives Lurdy Ház the opportunity to take part in professional events, knowledge-sharing programmes and discussions related to sustainable real-estate operations. Members of the association have access to professional resources, events and networking opportunities that support the exchange of experience and the discovery of new solutions.

For us, joining HuGBC is not a completed achievement but the next step on a longer journey. It means that Lurdy Ház will continue to follow the professional directions and practices that contribute to creating a more sustainable, liveable and responsibly operated urban environment.

A shared direction

Lurdy Ház aims to remain a versatile, easily accessible and liveable meeting point in Budapest. It is a place where shopping, work, everyday services, leisure and community programmes can coexist with more conscious thinking.

Joining HuGBC reinforces this direction. Through our membership, we have become part of a professional community that is shaping the future of the sustainable built environment—one in which experience, cooperation and practical solutions are equally valued.
